Prof. Dr. Riesterer is head of the radiation oncology center at Kantonsspital Aarau (KSA) and Associate Professor at University of Zurich. He is the current President of the Swiss Hyperthermia Network SHN. In 2026 SHN introduced the Swiss Hyperthermia Registry with the aim to prospectively collect data from all patients treated in Switzerland with radiotherapy and hyperthermia. In addition, Prof. Riesterer together with Dr. Adela Ademaj are currently performing European multicenter data analyses of rectal cancer patients treated with radiotherapy and hyperthermia. An important focus of this research is the correlation of clinical outcome and thermometric parameters. Further, Prof. Riesterer is working on the development of prospective clinical studies within the ESTRO Focus Group Hyperthermia.
