Professor Jens Overgaard, MD, DMSc, FRCR is head of Department of Experimental Clinical Oncology, Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark. His prime research interest is clinical and experimental radiation oncology, especially within head and neck, ocular and breast cancer. He has more than 55 years of scientific activity within hyperthermic oncology, including being founding member of ESHO, and president 1985-87; founding co-editor-in-chief of Int J Hyperthermia, and chairman of ESHO clinical committee and principal investigator for the randomized protocols ESHO-1, ESHO-2 and ESHO-3. In addition, Jens Overgaard is also a former president of ESTRO and editor-in-chief emeritus of Radiotherapy and Oncology and has received more than 50 international awards. He has been principal investigator of more than 40 clinical trials (including > 17.000 patients), supervised more than 120 completed PhD theses and been an author of about 1000 publications – including 200+ on hyperthermic oncology (H-index >130, >80.000 citations).
